This year’s Eastern Cup Opener will be held in memory of Roy Varney, a state champion Nordic skier from Turner, Maine, who passed away in July 2019. The race is expected to draw 300-400 racers, including a large contingent of Maine athletes.
Quarry Road Opener
The Quarry Road Opener is part of the New England Nordic Ski Association’s Popular Race Series and Zak Cup Series. These open events offer head-to-head racing opportunities for developing skiers, senior athletes, and masters racers. The Quarry Road Opener includes an open race (adult, collegiate, etc), as well as events for high school, middle school, and younger age groups.
